SAN SHOU (CHINESE KICKBOXING)

San Shou meaning ‘Free Hand’ also referred to as San Da, meaning ‘free fighting’ is a Chinese combat sport and is one of the two official disciplines used in Chinese Wushu. The other being Taolu(forms).San Shou consist of kicks, strikes, throws and takedown techniques emphasising on realistic fighting. The comprehensive methods used in San Shou are from Northern and Southern style of Chinese Martial Arts (Wushu - Kung Fu).San Shou is physically demanding which helps to develop and improve stamina, increase flexibility, power and strength. Balance with Co-ordination is also improved.
All classes are suitable for men, women and children.
Our training methods and techniques make San Shou a comprehensive fighting system and is an effective method of self-defence.
Emphasis is on learning correct technique and gradually building the skills with confidence to develop -
It is taught and practised using discipline and traditional principles within a safe training environment. Appropriate training equipment is used and protective safety equipment is worn during sparring and drills.San Shou today is now a major International sporting event that has an integral part at the World Wushu Championships organised by the International Wushu Federations. (IWuF). The European Wushu Championships are organised by the European Wushu Federation (EWuF)The British Council for Chinese Martial Arts (BCCMA) selects the British San Shou team from the National Wushu San Shou competition organised from their National and Regional events. San Shou competitions are held on a raised platform called a ‘Lei Tai’. The International Sanshou Rules of Competition are applied.
